Dye Tests
Why do we use them? To detect broken lines and leaks
Dye tests are used to show if there is a broken line or show if there are any obvious leaks or issues with the system or drain field. We require that a dye test be performed for septic certifications when a home has been vacant for a period of time.
When performing a septic dye test, we will come out to the property, put the dye in a drain and run a substantial amount of water to ensure that the florescent dye is in the system and works its way out to the drain field. If the dye makes its way to the surface, then there may be an issue, possibly a broken, disconnected, or crushed septic line. Should an issue arise, we are then able to pinpoint the exact location with a video inspection to see what is going on beneath the ground's surface.
Smoke Tests
Why do we use them? To detect common residential plumbing problems
Sewer smell in your house? Sewer smells can be hard to pinpoint. Through a series of steps and specialized equipment we can help locate the source of the smell with a smoke test.
Performing a smoke test on your plumbing system involves using nontoxic oil free smoke to pinpoint the problem in your home's plumbing connections, seals and traps. Once we have an idea of where the issue is at, specialized camera equipment can be used to further investigate the plumbing problems that might be creating unwanted sewer gas smells. A smoke test is a quick and reliable way to find the problem and get it repaired.
